Tie your hair up at night with a silk or satin scarf. This prevents your hair from "catching" on the pillow case and breaking off. This also keeps the natural hair oils in your hair and not on the pillowcase.

___________

Be Patient. Clear all tangles and snarls with the fingers first, then, starting from the bottom, using your wide tooth comb, complete the detangling process. Using an leave-in conditioner at this stage, while the hair is still damp will help keep the hair moisturized and help ease out the tangles.

___________

Stay away from alcohol based products; look for either Alcohol or SD Alcohol on the label. Then leave it on the shelf. Alcohol is extremely drying to Ethnic hair.

Holiday Beauty Look 2

Holiday parties are just around the corner and to get you ready to go from work to cocktail party, here is a list of holiday makeup tips that are sure to be a hit at your next holiday party!

The Smokey Eye

You will need the following products:

  • Eye Primer
  • Black/Brown/Grey Kohl Eye Liner
  • Light Eye Shadow (White/Beige Shade)
  • Neutral Eye Shadow (Taupe/Almond)
  • Dark Shimmer Eye Shadow (Black/Brown/Grey)
  • Black/Brown Mascara
  • Eye Shadow Brush (Small & Medium)
  • Eyelash Curler

How to create Smoky Eyes:

Step 1: The first step to smoky eye makeup is to prepare your eye lid. In order to do this you will need to ensure that your eye shadow does not melt into the crease of your eyelid and to do this you will need to start with an eye shadow base or primer.

Step 2: Using your kohl eye pencil, draw a line along top and bottom rims of your eye. Stay close to the eyelashes as much as possible. Smudge the line a bit using small eye shadow brush.

Step 3: With a little sponge tip applicator or medium eye shadow brush, apply dark eye shadow over the lined area and smudge it using your finger tip to soften the edges.

Step 4: Apply light eye shadow under your eyebrow.

Step 5: Create a smoky look by blending the dark and light shadows using the neutral shade eye shadow; brush it outward from the inner corner of your eye for a perfect blended look.

Step 6: The next step is to double check what you have done, and ensure that both eyes match.

Step 7: Finish your smoky eye look by first curling your eyelashes with a eye lash curler, then follow with several coats of mascara.

By following our step by step smoky eyes guide you will have the perfect smoky eye make-up, which is sure to last all evening.

To compliment this look, keep the face matte with an oil-free foundation such as Bobbi Brown cosmetics Oil-free even finish foundation or Cover Girl's Queen Collection Oil-free foundation, follow with a loose powder from either make-up line. Next apply a neutral shimmer lip gloss. Our favorites are Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Glitter lip gloss in Gold Glitter and Shimmer Lip Gloss in Coco Sugar and Spun Gold.

Remember these are just product recommendations. Feel free to use your favorite make-up line products to complete this look.
