Tie
your hair up at night with a silk or satin scarf. This prevents
your hair from "catching" on the pillow case and breaking
off. This also keeps the natural hair oils in your hair and not
on the pillowcase.
___________
Be
Patient. Clear all tangles and snarls with the fingers first,
then, starting from the bottom, using your wide tooth comb, complete
the detangling process. Using an leave-in conditioner at this
stage, while the hair is still damp will help keep the hair moisturized
and help ease out the tangles.
___________
Stay
away from alcohol based products; look for either Alcohol or SD
Alcohol on the label. Then leave it on the shelf. Alcohol is extremely
drying to Ethnic hair.

Winter Skin
Care Guide for Beautiful Skin
Cold temperatures, low humidity, harsh winds
and dry indoor heating combine to rob the skin of moisture, leaving
your complexion dull, dry and flaky. Follow these winter skin care
tips to keep your complexion looking great all winter long.
-
When cleansing skin in winter, , use a
milky-soft cleanser removed with a warm, damp washcloth.
-
Don't forget to exfoliate all that dry
skin, but stay with gentle methods -- no hacked-up apricot pits
or hard, scratchy "puffs." Remember that scratch-itch
cycle?
-
Also, according to Lewis, you might need
an eye cream, but don't slather on too much. After all, eye creams
attract moisture, and moisture takes up space, meaning eye creams
can cause puffiness.
-
Protect. Don't forget that the sun puts
out damaging rays even during the winter months, so use your daily
sunscreen.
-
Don't use toner or anything with alcohol
in it.
-
Get a good moisturizing night cream, even
if you don't use one in summer, Lewis says.
-
Soften dry patches by steaming your face
over a bowl of boiling water (cover your head with a towel) for
several minutes.
-
Avoid caking with products that provide
both color and moisture. Try cream blushes, such as L'Oréal's
Translucide Gel Blush, and check out tinted moisturizers.
-
Drink water frequently. Hydration from
the inside, by drinking water is one of the most important things
you can do for skin in cold weather.
-
Humidify. When the heat is on, replace
lost indoor moisture by running a humidifier in the house.
-
At the gym or spa, instead of the dry-and-drying-sauna,
use the steam room. Before steaming, apply a thin layer of Vitamin
E oil. Your skin will come out radiant and amazingly soft.
-
Eat goods fats. Food like fish and flaxseed
that are loaded with nutritious omega-3 fatty acids can revitalize
skin.
-
Pamper fingers and toes. Don’t forget
these extremities, which take a particularly harsh beating in bitter
climates. To bring them back to smoothness, soak feet and hands
in warm water mixed with lemon juice and Vitamin E oil. Afterwards,
rub on Aloe Ultra Moisture Cream.
